About Kress Creek Lessons
All lessons at Kress Creek are tailored to the needs of each rider. We start each new student in an assessment lesson which typically takes about 90-120 minutes. In the assessment lesson we take time to talk through any previous riding experience, tour the farm, meet the horses, go through the entire grooming and tacking process before and after the riding session together to see where the rider needs help and where they are proficient, and have a private riding session to assess the riding level and where the rider would fit into the program and their immediate needs in the following lessons.
After the assessment lesson, we operate on a monthly package of one, two, or three lessons a week on set days and times. While we are a hunter jumper facility, all lessons have a foundation of dressage to encourage proper basics for each rider prior to jumping.
We also place great importance in horsemanship and horse welfare, every horse has certain limits and needs helping us match them with each level of rider for riding purposes as well as care purposes, riders are expected to take part in (and complete on their own when they show they are able) the grooming, tacking, untacking, tack maintenance, and care of their horse that day to ensure well rounded riders. For these packages they are done in a subscription style with payment due at the beginning of each month to secure your days and times.
